Dating back to ancient Egypt, the aloe plant has been used medicinally for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Aloe comes from inside the leaves of the cactus plant. The clear, gel-like substance is 96% water, and is filled with over 75 vitamins, minerals, and natural enzymes. This all natural wonder-gel has been proven an effective, organic type of skincare for treating many types of ailments, ranging from dry skin and acne to psoriasis, and eczema.

Moisturizer

Aloe is a non-greasy moisturizer that is perfect for all skin types, especially oily skin, as it won’t clog pores. Unlike some of what you may find in stores, aloe is 100% natural and mostly made up of water, so you don’t have to question the benefits of adding the moisturizing product to your skincare regimen! Its lightweight gel consistency also makes it perfect for applying to the face under makeup as a protective, moisturizing barrier between skin and the harsh makeup. Getting the product at home is easy.  Simply cut open an aloe leaf along the skinny edge, scrape out the gel, and apply on face. If there is leftover gel, it is best kept in the fridge for potency.

Anti-Aging Agent

Aloe is full of antioxidants including, beta-carotene, and vitamins C and E, which can help improve the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated all day. The wide variety of naturally occurring vitamins, proteins, and enzymes also lead to increased elasticity, which will prevent signs of aging. When used as part of your daily skincare routine, aloe will lead to noticeably softer, smoother, more supple skin.

Acne Fighter

There are two hormones that occur naturally in aloe, Auxin and Gibberellins. Together they provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory benefits, making aloe an excellent organic acne fighter. Gibberellin is a growth hormone that increases cell production and turnover, essentially getting rid of acne flare-ups faster. Aloe contains salicylic acid and anti-microbial properties proven to reduce redness. It also acts as a natural remedy for scars, and can be beneficial for those that suffer from acne scarring.
